LANG LANG, a well-known young Chinese pianist and an international goodwill ambassador for Shenzhen, recently continued promoting Shenzhen on his Western tour, this time to an audience in the United States.

More than 3,000 guests from political, business, financial, art and education areas in the United States and China attended Lang's charity concert Monday, which was organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Foreign Affairs Office.

Held at Carnegie Hall in New York City, well-known actor Alec Baldwin hosted the gala for music enthusiasts and artists, including Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell and American soprano Renee Fleming.

Lang expressed his love for the passionate and energetic young "city of piano," Shenzhen, and a video introducing Shenzhen was shown at the concert. Many audience members said they were deeply impressed by the city's fast development, ecological concepts and beautiful environment.

"Lang has a very high reputation and influence in developed Western countries such as the United States. His promotion will surely help introduce Shenzhen to the world. The Chinese Consulate General in New York will also fully support the internationalization of Shenzhen,"Sun Guoxiang, consul-general of the Chinese Consulate General in New York, said after the concert.

It was Lang's third concert organized by Shenzhen in the Americas this year, following performances in Bogota, the capital of Colombia, and Lima in Peru.
Lang was named one of Shenzhen's international goodwill ambassadors in January 2012.
