Invest Shenzhen Held Briefing on Investment Policies for European and American Investors

The Shenzhen Investment Policy Introduction was held by Invest Shenzhen with the theme of "Invest Shenzhen, Sow a Winning Future" at Shenzhen Civic Center in the afternoon of December 10, 2012 to introduce Shenzhen investment policies for European and American companies.

 

 

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director General Li Shi, Director General Wang Youming briefly introduced Shenzhen's investment environment. Shenzhen Vice Mayor Chen Biao, Consul-General of Consulate General of France in Guangzhou Bruno Bisson, Consul-General of Consulate General of Belgium in Guangzhou Johan D'Halleweyn, and representatives of Consulate General of the United States in Guangzhou attended this meeting. Other attendants included representatives of commerce chambers and associations from Europe and the U.S. and over 200 representatives of well-known European and American companies such as Air Products & Chemicals, Cisco, Emerson, Walt Disney, Siemens, DHL, Linde Industrial Gases, GSK and Decathlon.

 

 

Chen Biao indicated in his welcoming speech that since the 1980s when European and the U.S. companies started to invest in Shenzhen, they have become a pioneer and key force in driving Shenzhen's economic growth. Currently, major European and American top-500 companies have set up operations in Shenzhen and many have continued expanding their businesses, suggesting their strong growth and confidence in the development of this city. During the introduction, Wang Youming focused on the economic and trade cooperation between Shenzhen and Europe and America as well as the current development status of major industries in Shenzhen, analyzed the new investment and development opportunities for European and American companies, and promised to continue providing specialized services for investors both at home and abroad.

 

 

The meeting invited representatives of Shenzhen Customs, Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Human Resource and Social Security (HRSS), the Market Supervision Administration of Shenzhen Municipality (MSA) to explain details of the policies on customs clearance, social insurance for employees and legal right and interest protection of enterprise. Moreover, to improve our services and effectively promote Shenzhen's sound investment environment, Invest Shenzhen has released the English edition of its website (http://en.szinvest.gov.cn/) and conducted a questionnaire survey on Shenzhen's investment environment during the event. Representatives of district investment promotion institutions have answered questions from various companies.

 

During the meeting, companies including Templeton Asset Management, Morgan Stanley Finance Lease, Siemens and SAP have signed investment memoranda with Invest Shenzhen, with a total investment of USD1.5 billion. Partnership agreements were also executed between Invest Shenzhen and American Chamber of Commerce in South China and German Chamber of Commerce in South China and Southwest China respectively with the aim of broadening communication channels and expanding the platform for future cooperation.

 

This introduction has revealed great enthusiasm for investing in Shenzhen, attracting many companies from Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, the U.S. and France in addition to local European and U.S. investors. Moreover, many companies consulted Invest Shenzhen, HRSS, MSA, the Customs and district institutions on relevant policies and investment affairs in the communication session after the introduction.
