The Shenzhen Investment Environment Promotion Conference was held by Invest Shenzhen in Toronto in the afternoon of December 12, 2012. Deputy Director General Li Shi, Canada Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Toronto Investment Promotion Bureau Director Renato Discenza, Canada China Business Council executive director Sarah Kutulakos and representatives of local companies took part in the event.

During the conference, Li explained Shenzhen's investment environment and development status, and expressed desires to intensify cooperation between two cities in finance, communication and trade, and increase exchange and cooperation in strategic emerging fields such as bio-technology, new energy and cultural innovation. Sarah Kutulakos indicated that Shenzhen's rapid growth and huge market will boost the exchange and cooperation in high-tech and financial sectors between two cities. SmartRay Inc., a local company, shared its successful investment in Shenzhen during the event. In addition, Renato Discenza revealed a plan to send a delegation of local companies to investigate Shenzhen's key industries and potential investment opportunities.
