Invest Shenzhen Holds an Investment and Cooperation Introduction Meeting in Istanbul

On June 17, the Shenzhen (China) and Turkey Investment and Cooperation Introduction Meeting was held by Invest Shenzhen in Istanbul, the largest city and the cultural, economic and financial center of Turkey. Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin, Acting Consul General of the Consulate General of China in Istanbul Tian Kaisheng, DEIK Turkey-China Business Council Chairman Husnu Ozyegin and industry, business and financial leaders,nearly 200 local government officials attended the meeting. 

 


Xu Qin described Shenzhen as an economic center of China and an innovative, open, environmental-friendly and low-carbon city. He also expressed the intention to expand cooperation fields, innovate cooperation modes and focus on cooperation in hi-tech industries based on two cities' complementary capital, technical and market resources, thus propelling two cities' economic growth and creating new driving forces. The cooperation in preponderant industries such as the textile, garment and gold and jewel processing industry will give full play to both cities' advantages and maximize mutual benefit. The joint development of clean energy and low-carbon technologies will substantially promote the sustainable development of the human society. Increasing communication and cooperation in fields such as culture, education, sports and tourism will strengthen ties and friendship between people of the two countries. "Underpinned by huge markets and strong industries of the two cities, the cooperation between Shenzhen and Istanbul in economy and trade is set to strengthen the friendship between China and Turkey" Xu Qin commented.

Tian Kaisheng described Shenzhen as the pioneer in China's reform and opening up program and a leader in independent innovation and development of cutting-edge technology. He also hoped that Shenzhen could play a key role in promoting Sino-Turkey cooperation.

Husnu Ozyegin warmly introduced Shenzhen as an incredible fast-growing city that has created an amazing economic development mode. He hoped that Shenzhen and Turkey promote economic cooperation trade and accelerate progress of major cooperative projects.

During the meeting, Director General of Invest Shenzhen Wang Youming introduced Shenzhen's business and investment environment and shared the prospect for Chinese companies to run business in Turkey and Turkish companies to invest in Shenzhen. Wang also explained Shenzhen's policies to support key industries. Turkish business chambers and representatives from Shenzhen companies exchanged and shared views during the meeting and the Turkish Deloitte&Touche released its analysis report on Shenzhen's investment environment.

During the meeting, agreements of several investment and cooperative projects were signed between Invest Shenzhen and DEIK and several Turkish companies and between BGI and three Turkish universities, including the joint genetic research project.

During the meeting, many Turkish companies showed great interest in economic, trade and hi-tech cooperation with Shenzhen. DEIK revealed the plan to send a delegation of Turkish companies to explore cooperation opportunities in Shenzhen. BGI and Istanbul University, the largest university in Turkey, signed a memorandum on scientific research and education cooperation.

Spanning Europe and Asia, Turkey enjoys a privileged and key position between the East and the West and has established close ties with the Middle East, central Asia, Balkan and Russian markets. Turkey's high economic growth over recent years has elevated its position as one of the Next-11 countries with a huge market demand. With keen market acumen, industries leaders such as Huawei, ZTE and Mindray have tapped into the Turkish market.
