The "Invest in Shenzhen for a Win-Win Future': China (Shenzhen)—Spain (Barcelona) Investment Promotion Conference was successfully held in Barcelona, Spain’s economic center. Hosted by Invest Shenzhen and co-sponsored by the Free Trade Zone Association of Barcelona, Spain and Puente China España, the event drew more than one hundred people from business and academic circles, including Jia Changsheng, vice president of Invest Shenzhen, Tang Heng, consul general of the Consulate-General of China in Barcelona, JordiCornet, president of the Free Trade Zone Association of Barcelona and Spain national commissioner, Alberto Castellanos, director of the Catalonia Investment Promotion Bureau, Josep González, president of the Catalonia Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Association, Josep Manuel Basañez, vice president of Barcelona Ministry of Commerce, representatives of the Barcelona Port Authority, and representatives of the Catalonia District Government.
Vice president Jia Changsheng briefly introduced the economic and social development of Shenzhen and indicated that as China is in a period of economic transformation there is a strong focus on carrying forward the strategy of "bringing in" and "going out," thus providing valuable opportunities for Spanish investors. Both Shenzhen and Barcelona enjoy equally important status in regards to the economy and trade, science and technology, travel and culture, and there is tremendous potential for cooperation between the two cities. Investment by enterprises and organizations of Catalonia is welcomed in Shenzhen and will be eagerly facilitated by Invest Shenzhen.
Consul general Tang Heng said in a speech that in recent years China has enjoyed an increasing number of friendly exchanges with Spain and Catalonia, all of which have yielded fruitful results. Shenzhen is the window on China’s reform and opening up and an ideal place for Sino-foreign cooperation. As both cities boast a vibrant economy, a comprehensive industrial and commercial system, sound infrastructure and outstanding creative capabilities, Shenzhen and Barcelona hold great potential for cooperation. The investment promotion conferences jointly held by the two parties will facilitate Catalonia's understanding of Shenzhen, and are a very good platform upon which Catalonia's enterprises can invest in China.
After the conference, vice president Jia Changsheng held further discussions with consul general Tang Heng and JordiCornet, president of the Free Trade Zone Association of Barcelona, and learned more about Barcelona Free Trade Zone's development process, strategic orientation, function, goals and current cooperation with China, and emphasized that China will deepen cooperation with Spain to secure a mutual win-win for both economies. The delegation also visited SAS Group in France, and the Foreign Trade and Investment Bureau, LUXINNOVATION, Sparinvest, and China Lux in Luxembourg, all of which yielded fruitful results.
