On March 22, a delegation from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) paid a visit to Invest Shenzhen for a discussion on investment cooperation. Invest Shenzhen warmly welcomed the delegation, gave a detailed introduction to recent achievements in Shenzhen in technology innovation, talent introduction, industrial development and other aspects, and invited JETRO to drive Japanese high technology and high-tech products in entering Shenzhen. JETRO said that in order to promote exchange and cooperation between Shenzhen and Japanese enterprises, elevate Shenzhen’s competitiveness in modern industrial systems, and expand bilateral trade investment, they plan to implement the JETRO Innovation Program (JIP) in Shenzhen to help Japanese SMEs and innovative enterprises to develop international business for keeping investment in place. The two sides also reached a consensus on further reinforcement of bilateral cooperation in the life health, aerospace, and other fields, and will jointly boost economic, trade, scientific and technological exchanges by organizing irregular mutual group visits, building
the
Innovation and Startup Express, co-holding summit forums and other methods.
JETRO was founded in 1958, and now has 73 overseas offices. The branches, together with the headquarters in Tokyo and Osaka and the Institute of Developing Economies, are actively devoted to fostering trade and investment between Japan and overseas regions; and bolstering business cooperation among enterprises, especially business cooperation in East Asia. On February 25, 2016, Hu Chunhua (Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC) met with Hiroyuki Ishige (Chairman of JETRO), and said he looked forward to jointly driving the economic transformation and upgrading of Guangdong Province through close cooperation and exchange between Guangdong and JETRO.
