Shenzhen's economic growth accelerated over the first 10 months of this year, according to data released by the city's statistics bureau Monday.

The city's above-scale industries realized added value of 408.3 billion yuan (US$64.8 billion) from January to October, up 5.5 percent from 2011 and 0.3 percent higher than this year's total through September.

Performances of the telecommunications, computer and electronic equipment manufacturing industries were outstanding, city statisticians said, citing growth of 8.3 percent through October.

The city's GDP from January to September increased 9 percent from the same period last year, higher than the national and provincial figures.

The city recorded GDP growth of 5.8 percent in 2012's first quarter, far below the national quarterly figure of 8.1 percent and provincial figure of 7.2 percent.

The January-October consumption growth reached 15.7 percent, 0.2 percent higher than the growth for January-September, indicating October's activity slightly boosted Shenzhen's economy, according to the data.
