Shenzhen Wins BlueSky Award for Being a Pioneer City! One of Only Three Cities in the World to Receive the Honor

  The winners of the 2018 "BlueSky Awards" sponsored by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) were officially announced on the afternoon of September 26th, serving as one of the main highlights of the Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum. The awards are divided into "BlueSky Awards" for World's Leading Technology of Renewable Energy with Best Value of Investment, "BlueSky Awards" for Pioneer Cities in Green and Low Carbon Field, and "BlueSky Awards" for Excellent Individuals with Great Contributions in Green and Low Carbon Field.

  Among the above awards, 10 technologies won "BlueSky Awards" for World's Leading Technology of Renewable Energy with Best Value of Investment, including technology that results in zero-discharge of concentrated salt water and resource utilization of crystallized salt from the coal chemical industry developed by Shenzhen Energy Resources Comprehensive Development Co., Ltd., and the HDT single crystal silicon high-efficiency heterojunction solar cell technology developed by GS-Solar (China) Company Ltd.. The three cities that won “BlueSky Awards” for Pioneer Cities in Green and Low Carbon Field were Shenzhen and Chengdu in China, and Lyon in France.

  The "BlueSky Awards" have been successfully held for six years and more than 200 technologies from over 30 countries around the world were submitted to the competition. The reviewed technologies have been effectively commercialized and put into practical application. Their large-scale use in China and other developing countries has alleviated the pressure on human life caused by conventional energy supplies and environmental pollution, and has made important contributions to promoting the sustainable development of global energy and environment.
