On the morning of January 4, against the heated gun salutes and the whistle of cars and ships, 215 vehicles were loaded on "Yuheng Pioneer", the largest ro-ro ship in China, bound for the Middle East. The departure marked the official opening of the ro-ro shipping route linking Xiaomo Port and the Persian Gulf by the Xiaomo International Logistics Port of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone.
The opening of this route will diversify the business pattern of the Xiaomo International Logistics Port, expand accessibility and fill the gap of ro-ro car export in Shenzhen Port. It also marks the transformation of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone from an agricultural and fishing town with poor access into a bridgehead that integrates into the "Belt and Road Initiative" and connects with the world. It will also function as an eastern gateway to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen metropolitan area.

The Xiaomo International Logistics Port is an important part of the land-sea linkage and the comprehensive transportation system of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone. As the future core port in the eastern wing of the "three-wing-in-one" Shenzhen Port area, the Xiaomo International Logistics Port can perfectly integrate and leverage the dual advantages of a natural high-quality deep-water port and neighboring BYD Xiaomo Auto Park. In April 2022, the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone successfully opened the ro-ro shipping route linking Xiaomo Port and Shanghai, which was marked by the maiden voyage of the ro-ro ship loaded with 336 BYD cars for foreign trade. At the end of 2022, the inspection supporting facilities of the Xiaomo International Logistics Port successfully passed the checks and acceptance of the Guangdong Provincial Office for Port Services, and officially obtained the "international permit".
Cai Xin, Deputy Director of the Transport Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, said that the Xiaomo International Logistics Port will serve as an important hub for East Guangdong to connect with the world. The construction of the Xiaomo International Logistics Port represents a key step to major national strategies, including building China into a transportation power, maritime power and shipping power, as well as a vital measure to speed up the building of a new development paradigm and promote high-quality development. By 2025, the Xiaomo International Logistics Port will strive to achieve an annual transport volume of over 1 million vehicles for foreign trade and a total output value of RMB 300 billion. As the Port formulates a clearer functional plan and develops a more mature concept and model of port-industry-city integrated development in the new era, Xiaomo Port will provide high-quality and professional logistics services for the upstream and downstream sectors of the automobile industry chain, serve as a new driver of development for the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone into a world-class automobile zone, and help Shenzhen build itself into a strong manufacturing city.

In line with the decisions and arrangements made by Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone is devoted to building a world-class automobile zone. It focuses on the global new energy automobile industrial revolutions and industrial chain cluster projects. It has brought in industry leaders and well-known enterprises such as BYD, Dongfeng Lear and Yanfeng. Through persistent efforts to build factories rapidly, strengthen the industry chain and establish the auto city efficiently, it strives to create a trillion-scale auto industry hub.
With the support of the Xiaomo International Logistics Port, the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone will become an important part of the global industrial chain of new energy vehicles in the future, represent China to participate in international competition and cooperation, as well as promote China's new energy vehicles to overseas markets. According to Wang Yankui, Secretary of CPC Working Committee of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone, the opening of the Xiaomo International Logistics Port and the maiden voyage of ro-ro ship fill the gap in the ro-ro shipping of Shenzhen Port, and Shenzhen has taken a critical step to comprehensively build a vehicle import & export port connecting east Guangdong and reaching the world. It has made great contributions to and laid a solid foundation for building a logistics center with global influence in Shenzhen. In 2023, the Cooperation Zone will strive to build a new-generation and world-class automobile zone with high standards, high quality and high efficiency. It will give full play to the regional advantages and functions of the Xiaomo International Logistics Port as a comprehensive international logistics hub port, and achieve the annual target of exporting new energy vehicles. Build a foreign trade vehicle ro-ro hub port in South China
The Xiaomo International Logistics Port Phase-I Project plans to build two 100,000-ton-class multi-purpose berths and a 50,000-ton-class berth with the designed annual throughput of 4.5 million tons. The long-term plan is to build 49 berths with an annual throughput of 75 million tons. On December 28, 2021, the Xiaomo International Logistics Port was officially put into operation.
The Xiaomo International Logistics Port is building an important strategic hub and a production and service logistics hub of the Shenzhen International Shipping Center, with a focus on the development of new business patterns such as smart logistics and non-contact logistics. It will also link the industry and the logistics, vigorously develop the automobile industry chain economy and form a "production-transportation-marketing" ecological chain of the automobile industry.
The Xiaomo International Logistics Port has opened ro-ro shipping routes linking China and the world. It is gradually engaged in BYD's ro-ro business, and is also developing the domestic trade and foreign trade of ro-ro vehicles simultaneously.
